Letter to Europe about a life. About a mass of human lives.
We are Europeans. We are not Europeans. I used to think that we were Europeans even before the European Union existed. So just what is Europe? What is this? Is this the beginning of Europe, or the end? ENTRANCE – EXIT? EMERGENCY EXIT?! There is serious customs and traffic control on the border. The border is a metaphor – the border is not a metaphor. Is it the gateway to the Balkans? The end of the world?
UTOPIA. Theatre, on the other hand, is ACTION! Critical action.
Let’s go to Europe! Let’s go! STOP! Baby Stop! We will lose ourselves – they will lose us. Europe hates me – I hate Europe! Europe knows nothing about me – nor do I know anything about it. We believe so many things about each other – if we think about each other at all. Unattainable.
Every day, and every night, I think of you:
Dear Europe, I LOVE YOU, I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!
